Washington D.C. & first day at New York City

English: Our flight to New York was a bit weird, because we had so many layovers... Our first layover was in Atlanta and after that Washington, where we had a 12 HOURS layover. The Washington airport is really small and there's nothing to do in it, so we look up for a hotel and we went to sleep (the cheapest -and the one that was nearest to the airport- we could find was the Sheraton). The next day we woke up super early and we ran out of the hotel to check out some sites in Washington: The U.S. Capitol and the Library of Congress. And far away we saw the Washington Monument. From the Library, we came back to the hotel to grab our stuff and catch our flight to the city that never sleeps: New York City.

Español: Nuestro vuelo hacia New York fue rarísimo, porque teníamos demasiadas escalas... Nuestra primera escala fue en Atlanta y de ahí a Washington, donde teníamos una escala de ¡12 HORAS! El aeropuerto de Washington es bastante pequeño así que lo que hicimos fue buscar un hotel (el más barato -y que quedaba más cerca del aeropuerto- que conseguimos fue el Sheraton) e irnos a dormir. Al día siguiente nos levantamos súper temprano y salimos corriendo del hotel a ver lo poquito que podíamos de Washington: el Capitolio y la Biblioteca del Congreso. Y -muy- a lo lejos vimos el Obelisco (Monumento a Washington). De la biblioteca, fuimos al hotel a buscar nuestras cosas y de ahí al aeropuerto para agarrar nuestro vuelo a nuestro próximo destino, la ciudad que nunca duerme: New York City.

English: Our first day in NYC was pretty relaxed. From the airport we went to our hostel, the Q4 -that's located in Queen Plaza-. This hostel is amazing, they renewed recently so all the stuff are brand new, all the rooms have their own bathroom so you don't have to share it with the whole hostel. They also have private rooms, but we stayed on a 4 shared dorm. The kitchen was amazingly clean and the common areas are super big and clean. The staff is super nice and they're always willing to help you with anything you need.

Español: El primer día en NYC fue bastante relajado. Del aeropuerto fuimos a nuestro hostel que quedaba en Queens Plaza, el Q4 hostel. De este hostel solo tengo cosas buenas para decir. Lo renovaron hace poco así que todas las instalaciones están como nuevas, todas las habitaciones tienen su baño así que no compartes el baño con todo el hostel sino con los que compartes la habitación. También tienen habitaciones privadas, pero nosotros nos quedamos en una de 4 personas. La cocina estaba impecable y las salas comunes son bastante amplias. El staff es súper amable y siempre están dispuestos a ayudarte con cualquier duda que tengas. 

English: We set up and went out to look for the NYCPass -one the best purchases I've ever made in my life, you'll see why on the upcoming posts-. As the place where we went to look for the pass was really near to Times Square, we decided to hang around a little while.

Honestly, we didn't see much of Times Square that day, just the massive screens and the massive stores. From there we went to the 5th Av. We saw the Falt Iron Building, look some stores we wanted to see -that, sadly, were closed-, we ate on one of the food trucks on the streets and we went back to the hostel, because next day it was going to be rough!

Español: Nos acomodamos y salimos a buscar el NYCPass -una de las mejores compras que he hecho en mi vida jajajaja, en los próximos posts se darán cuenta por qué digo esto-. Como el local donde buscamos en NYCPass estaba relativamente cerca de Times Square decidimos pasear un rato por ahí. 

La verdad es que ese día no vimos mucho en Times Square, solo las pantallas inmensas y las tiendas -por fuera-. De ahí, fuimos a recorrer un poco de la 5ta Avenida. Vimos el Flat Iron Building, buscamos unas tiendas que queríamos ver (pero lamentablemente estaban cerradas), comimos en uno de los food truck que hay por ahí y nos devolvimos al hostel, porque al día siguiente nos esperaba un día rudo.
